Keto Chow Introduction
If you are following a ketogenic diet, you might want to stay in ketosis for as long as you can without missing out tasty food choices. Especially if you are like me, and have a massive sweet-tooth or like sodas, you might find it hard to find keto friendly sweet drinks and treats.
This is where Keto Chow steps on the scene, but are their products worth the money or are they a scam? Lets find out in this Keto Chow review.
What is Keto Chow?
Keto Chow is a keto friendly powdered mix for drinking and when combined with heavy cream, water and MCT-oil creates a ketogenic meal replacement shake rich in nutrients.
Following a ketogenic diet, our main goal remains to stay in ketosis but fresh food preparation takes some time especially living with our busy schedules. This is where Keto Chow can assist you. If you are in a hurry and are looking for a keto friendly alternative to preparing food, Keto Chow can help you out.
What Are The Ingredients of Keto Chow?
People following a ketogenic lifestyle, such as “The Custom Keto Diet” know that they have to replace the lack of carbohydrates as an energy source with healthy fats and protein and just enough carbohydrates, to not be kicked out of ketosis.
Keto Chow meal replacement shake on its own comes with 25.8 grams of protein and 6.5 grams of carbohydrates. Besides, Keto Chow was crafted to provide you with 1/3rd of your daily requirements of electrolytes and minerals each serving, making it a good addition to your (hopefully) already nutritional balanced keto diet.
Keto Chow on its own has no fats in it. Its protein content should be fine to saturate you for some hours, but you can also add whip cream to your shake to add some fats to it.
Lets break down the Keto Chow ingredients:
Keto Chow comes with Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Vitamin K. Providing your body with all the necessary minerals and vitamins are the basis for optimal weight loss. However, we would´ve wished for a more complete vitamin profile, more so because there are many keto friendly low-carb protein powders on the market with a more complete vitamin profile.
With 25.8 grams of protein per serving, this product offers the right amount of protein, a meal replacement shake should offer. Besides, Beef protein is the protein of choice for Keto Chow, which can be considered a “premium” protein choice and which is more expensive in production compared to whey protein.
Proteins are important in any ketogenic diet. Proteins help to repair, maintain and build muscle mass. Muscle mass is metabolic active which means, more muscles mean more calories burned even at rest and vice versa.
However, as mentioned above already, this is nothing new under the sun. There are countless protein shakes and meal replacements on the market which come with a similar nutritional profile and with the same amount of protein.
Beef protein is expensive and that reflects on Keto Chows price with a whopping $ 79.00 at Amazon for 2Ibs (1028g) which is almost thrice as much as regular meal replacement shakes or protein powders. Also it doesnt make much difference, if any, to choose beef protein as a normal consumer. Casein protein will keep you saturated for a long time as well and isnt as expensive as beef protein.
Additionally this product offers are variety of essentials electrolytes such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, zinc, selenium and vanadium.
This is indeed a nice addition and not found in every meal replacement shake alternative or protein powder, however having its price at hindsight, you will get one months mineral supplement supply for less than $5 at your local walmart.
How Many Calories Are in Keto Chow?
Keto Chow contains 128 calories for each serving (one scoop), which is a normal caloric range for meal replacement powders. Keep in mind that the calories will go up, if you add additional fat sources such as almond milk or similar to your shake.
How To Use Keto Chow?
Keto Chow is intended to be a meal replacement shake, which means that you leave out one daily meal in favour of this meal replacement shake. If you find it hard to get saturated with this product or if your current keto meals doesnt keep you as full as you would wish for, try to consume Keto Chow together with your meal for maximum saturation.
Make sure you blend it well with a mixer or a protein shaker, to prevent clumps from forming. Besides, at hot summer days, you can chill your drink in the refridgerator to cool down.
Keto Chow Flavours
This product comes in many different flavours, sweet and savory, such as:
- Lemon Meringue
- Chocolate Peanut Butter
- Chicken Soup (savory)
- Creamy Tomato Basil (savory)
…and many more.
Does Keto Chow Work For Weight Loss?
If you are on a ketogenic diet, meal replacement shakes will equally help with weight loss compared to ketogenic meals. This product is not intended to be a weight loss supplement but rather an addition to your ketogenic diet.
If you find yourself eating carb-heavy snacks and meals when you are out of home, at work etc., then a portable keto friendly meal replacement shake would assist you in your weight loss endeavours.
Altough, there are more and more grocery stores and supermarkets which offer keto friendly snacks and drinks, it still can be somewhat difficult to find the right food choices when you are at work, or out with friends. For such purpose a keto friendly meal replacement shake can help you to stay saturated until you arrive at home to prepare your ketogenic meals.
However, Keto Chow comes with a hefty price tag of $ 79.00 at Amazon for 2Ibs (1028g) which is almost thrice as much as regular meal replacement shakes or protein powders, without any special distinctions or advantages compared to regular meal replacement shakes.
If you are looking for sweet flavoured meal replacement shakes, it is highly questionable if Keto Chow does justify its price tag observing the many available alternatives which are more affordable. However, although in our opinion still too overpriced, the savory flavour choices make much more sense in that price range, just because the lack of alternatives on the market.
