Lemon Weight Loss Water Has A Low Calorie Count

Generally Lemon water is a beverage very low in calories. Squeezing the juice from half a lemon into water will result in each glass of lemon water with just six calories.  For this reason, if you replace higher calorie beverages like fruit juice and soda for lemon water, then this can be a phenomenal way to lower calories and help with weight loss.

For example one cup of fruit juice (235 ml) contains 111 calories, and a 15-ounce (0,49-liter) bottle of soda contains 181 calories. Replacing any of these beverages daily with a glass of lemon water could reduce your daily calorie intake by 90-180 calories.  There is evidence pointing on the fact, that drinking low-calorie beverages with meals could decrease the number of overall calories consumed in a meal.

In one study, 42 women had lunch with either a beverage with calories and the other part had lunch with a beverage without calories. Researchers then counted the calories consumed.  They found that drinking beverages with calories like sugar-sweetened beverages, fruit juice and milk with a meal did not make individuals compensate by eating less. Insted, the total amount of calories consumed increased, due to the calorie count from the mentioned beverage.

Altough lemon water is not 100 percent free of caloires, it is low enough in calorie count that it could produce a similar effect and can aid in decreasing overall calorie intake.

Lemon Weight Loss Water Will Keep You Hydrated

From transporting waste out of the body to providing nutrients to cells, consuming plenty of water to stay hydrated is a important component for your health.

Maintaining sufficient hydration is essential in everything. Mental perfomance, body temperature regulation and improvement of physical performance are just a few of many benefits.

There is evidence which also suggests that staying hydrated can help with weight loss. Some studies indicate that enhanced hydration may increase the breakdown of fatty acids in the body, thus enhancing weight loss.

This can also help to reduce water retention, which can cause symptoms like puffiness, bloating and weight gain.  Since lemon water is mostly made up of water, it can aid in maintaining adequate hydration levels.

Lemon Weight Loss Water May Aids in Boosting your Metabolism

Research says that drinking enough water can eventually help to increase your metabolic rate.  These Researchers suggest that optimal hydration enhances the function of your mitochondria, a type of ogranelle found in your body cells that help in generating energy for the body.

This leads to an increased metabolism, which in turn can lead to subsequent fat loss.  Drinking enough fluid also has also been shown to increase metabolic rate by firing up thermogenesis, a metabolic process in which energy is burned to produce heat.

There is one study in which 14 participants drank 16.9 ounces (0,5 liters) of water. It was found that this had increased their metabolic rate by 30% for 30-40 minutes.  Another research looked at the effects of drinking water in 20 obese children. Consuming 0.3 ounces of water per 2.2 pounds of total body weight (10 ml/kg) enhanced metabolic rate by an impressive 25% for 35 minutes.

Specialised research on lemon water however is limited. But because water is the main ingredient, it likely carries the same benefits for a metabolic boost as regular water.

Lemon Weight Loss Water Can Leave You More Full

Consuming water is often recommended as a crucial part of any weight loss regimen, as it can provide fullness and satiety without additional calories. A study conducted in 2008 looked at the effects of water on caloric intake in 25 obese adults. The study came to the conclusion that drinking 16.8 ounces (0,5 liter) of water before consuming breakfast decreased the number of total calories consumed in the meal by 14%.

Another research found that drinking water together with a meal reduced hunger and increased fullness during the meal. Because the mixture of lemon juice and water is low in calories and can promote satiety the same way as regular water, it can be a good way to help reduce overall calorie intake.
